We offer design/build service on residential and commercial projects. Because the nature of these projects can vary substantially, we'd like you to please take a moment to read about our process, what we offer, and what you can expect so that we can get you what you're looking for.
First a definition: a design/build project is one where there are some plans and specifications but some things left to be explored and designed. This kind of project falls in between the two other common types of projects we do-- the first being smaller projects that we perform on a time and material basis, the second being larger projects with plans and specs from a general contractor. If design/build doesn't seem right for you or if you'd just like us to talk you through the process below, please send us an email at estimating@bridgetownelectric.com and we'll be glad to give you a call.
We request that customers send us some information about their project in the form we provide. We use this mainly to determine if there are any questions about the electrical service, whether the existing service will be adequate to meet the demands of the project, or if a new service will need to be explored. The first thing we'll need to know is what kind of power you have on site. Please send us pictures of your panels with breakers and stickers readable. Please send us pictures of your electrical service and where it attached to the building. We need to know the voltage and amperage of your service. If you're unable to determine this, we'll need to skip to Step two and costs will be incurred.
Then we'll need information about the loads that you'll be adding-- receptacles, lights, equipment, etc., and their power requirements. The more information you send us the better. If we can determine you have enough power already for your project, we can skip to Design - Step 3. If we can't, we move to Utility Requirements - Step 2.
If we can use the the information you provide to determine that you have enough power for your project, we can skip this step. If not, then we'll need to initiate a inquiry with the power company. This can be a lengthy process. We charge a flat rate for it that we'll bill upon completion of this step. We start by gathering your requirements and writing up a load calculation that we can submit to the power company. We follow up with them until we have the information from them that will be necessary for us (or another electrical company) to come up with a design. That information includes:
When we have given you the above information, this process is complete.
This step involves putting your requirements into a set of drawings that we can submit for permit. Once a permit is issued, this step is complete. We flat rate and bill this step as its own project as follows:
If this process sounds good to you, please fill out the following form so that we can get started. We'll reach out to you within the week to let you know if it's something we're able to help you with.
